Aisha Jamila Hinds is an American actress best recognized for her appearances in TV series The Shield and True Blood. Since her 2003 debut, she has shown her range in acting giving outstanding performances in television shows like 9-1-1 Detroit 1--8-7 and Under the Dome. Her role as a character in Assault on Precinct 13 from 2005 was the first one to attract her notice. However, it was her character in the role of Fannie Lou (a women's activist for rights) within the biography All the Way film that earned her the attention of an actor. Hind was praised for her portrayal of Harriet Tubman, in WGN America's historical drama Underground. She currently stars on the procedural drama series 9-1-1 in the leading role of firefighter/paramedic Henrietta Hen Wilson. 20th Century Fox Television announced that 9-1-1 will be renewed for another season. Recently Hind completed filming for the Hollywood movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters that is set for a release in mid-2019. She was born in Mangalore in India. Her father Krishnaraj was a Army scientist and died on 18 March 2017. The mother Vrinda works at home. Her older brother is Aditya Rai, who is an engineer in the merchant navy. Bachchan's brother co-produced and co-wrote the script for Dil Ka Rishta with their mother. Arya Vidya Mandir was the school that Bachchan went to when her family relocated to Mumbai. Her intermediate studies were completed in Jai Hind College for a year before enrolling at D.G. Ruparel College in Matunga where she was awarded a 99% mark score in the H.S.C. exams. She was a classical music student as well as dance for five years throughout her teenage years. Her favorite study was zoology. Bachchan studied Architecture when she was crowned Miss World. The title helped her get into the model industry. Her career was booming for PepsiCo Inc. and Vogue magazine, as well as the opportunity to be a spokesmodel for L'Oreal Paris in 2003. Her roles were praised, including Iruvar (1997) and Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya (1997), her acting career got off to an excellent starting point. Bachchan was thrust into the forefront in New Bollywood after both films disrupted the established structure of Bollywood movies at that period. With her heartbreaking portrayal as the betrayed lover Paro in Devdas (2002) among the top loved Bollywood film and the first film to screen during the Cannes Film Festival Bachchan cemented her status as the Queen of Bollywood. In the following years the film, she was recognized for her performance in Chokher Bal (2003), an intense drama based off Rabindranathtagore's novel. That that same year, she got named the first Indian actress to be on the Cannes Film Festival Jury. Bachchan appeared as Bride and Prejudice, a dance and musical adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice by Gurinderchadha. Bachchan was able to bring her beauty and star power to her first major English language film. Before releasing Provoked:A True Story 2006 in English the actress returned to Bollywood to star on Dhoom: 2 (2006 smash hit). In April 2007, she was married to Abhishek Bachchan a frequent co-star, and son of Bollywood great Amitabh Bachchan in a marriage which brought together two of India's most powerful personalities.
